Playa de Valdevaqueros

Costa de la Luz Details

The area west of the beach is occupied by an extensive dune formation created during 40 years of the twentieth century by the action of the military stationed in its vicinity. The dune is created to prevent the movement of sand threatening to bury the military installations and this single large dune is populated with pine trees to further fix the movement of sand.

The dune is still active and so far the terra forming process is seeing the slow growth of plant vegetation and juniper trees growing as seen on other dune systems in the area.

The Valdevaqueros Beach is a beach located in the town of Tarifa, in the region of Campo de Gibraltar in Andalusia, Spain. With a length of 4050 meters from the Punta Valdevaqueros and Punta de la Pena it has an average width of 120 meters and is situated apart from the major population areas.

The Western part of the beach is a river moth and the estuary that is broad and flat and runs across the beach, a few meters from the sea ending several hundred meters to the east.
