Los Canos de Meca

Costa de la Luz Details

The beaches of Cape Trafalgar are open, with flat land, fine sand and dunes, while dotted with reefs. To the east, in the village, the land begins to rise as more small beaches, protected by walls of rock. Finally, under the cliff that rises from Brena are smaller coves, to which access is only possible at low tide and are called Cala Verde.

The village has a view of the famous cliffs Canos as the name is given to the area and there are freshwater springs in the cliff wall that depending on the season and rainfall have different flows from small wet patches to major springs. The Cano is large and at the bottom of the cliff and is only accessible at low tide.

Los Canos de Meca is located 8 km north-west of Barbate Cadiz Spain, 8 km southeast of Conil de la Frontera and 14 km south of Vejer de la Frontera.

It is now a tourist town largely focusing on its varied and fine beaches, some of which are nude, which extend from Cape Trafalgar to the cliffs of La Brena. The place is protected within the Spanish monument's natural Tombolo of Trafalgar laws, while the cliffs are part of the Natural Park, of the Marshes and Brena of Barbate, with the pine forest that covers its crest and a strip sea.
