It houses an important collection of archaeological objects found in the megalithic era Zarcita The House of Santa Barbara and El Pozuelo in Zalamea la Real. Other pieces that can be seen are the treasure Tartessos from the necropolis of La Joya in addition to various Greek and Phoenician artifacts found in excavations in the city.

There are also important elements of the era of Al-Andalus. In the section of mining are the objects of Roman mining activity in the province, including the discovery of the huge Roman water wheel from Rio Tinto used by slaves to bring water from the mines.

In the gallery a collection of paintings is housed by the painter Nervense Daniel Vazquez Diaz. One of his paintings is cubist influenced of his friend, the poet Juan Ramon Jimenez of Moguer. There are also works of Jose Maria Vazquez Garcia and Sebastian Labrador. The museum also has a space for temporary exhibitions. Admission is free and closes on Monday. 

The Museum of Cabezo Almagro is a small museum highlighting some remains found in the Arab Cabezo of Almagro, a small promontory next to the University of Huelva. The museum building also serves to explain viewpoints of the city.

There are pedestrian platforms, to the various ruins, with information boards. The Gateway Centre in Huelva on the Atlantic gives value to visitors to the British heritage in the city and is situated in the fashionable neighbourhood of Pescheria, near the city centre, and along the old railroad tracks that connect with the ore dock.

The building, with avant-garde style where you can see exhibitions about maps and projections of the estuary, the Huelva relationship with the Atlantic, festivals and traditions, Huelva and the New World, tourist routes, mining, capital and footprint British Red Dock.

Next to this centre is in process of construction of the Railroad Park, conceived as a park-museum that seeks to bring into context the Pier, the mines and the province of Huelva in history. The Welcome Centre for Visitors to Puerto de Huelva located in the old engine manufacturing plant from the Port of Huelva, serves as a centre for interpretation of what was and is the port city of Huelva.

The only museum in the city is the Museo Provincial de Huelva, opened in 1973 and located in a modern building with three floors and situated in the Avenida semisotano Sundheim.

Religiously year culminates with the procession of the Immaculate Purisima.

Throughout the year there is a significant number of non-religious festivities in the city. One of the most important is the Carnaval Colombino, dating from 1863 until 1936, suspened due to the war and started again in 1983.

There is a small auditorium on the inside as well as artwork, a model of the city, original minerals, etc and outside the town centre is the Odiel Marshes, located on the island of Bacuta The Calatilla, Dock Road Espigon Juan Carlos I. Information on the nature reserve and beautiful views of the river and the city,  can be seen near the archaeological site of Salthish, of the eleventh century.

The major local religious festivals are in September and January the Las Fiestas de la Cinta September 8 are declared of national tourist interest and are dedicated to the patron saint of the city, Notre Dame de la Cinta.

The San Sebastian Festivities dedicated to the patron saint of the city is January 20 and is also declared of national tourist interest. Other religious festivities in the city are the Holy Week, the national tourist attractions, the Pilgrimage of Rocio sisterhoods Emigrantes of Huelva and to present his devotion on Monday morning or the Cruces de Mayo happens in some districts for the entire month of May.

Born the following year the Federation of Clubs and Associations Onubense Carnival FOPAC, which is responsible for organizing and conducting the Carnaval Colombino, after nearly twenty years since its restoration it has become the second largest carnival in Andalusia.

Today the competition groups, held at the Grand Theatre, groups come from the capital and through out the province and Andalusia and participation is over 60 groups.
