The beaches of the Costa de la Luz are usually formed by endless dunes composed of fine sand and native plants, sometimes surrounded by pine trees. The predominant features are the golden sands and a visible sun almost all day in all seasons. The name derives comes from a very acute light that highlights the cleanliness of the streets, the whitewash of the walls, the golden dunes and the reflection from the sea.
